The Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA) highest priority is the welfare and protection of United States (U.S). citizens at foreign locations, supporting border security at home, and facilitating safe entry of travelers without compromising U.S security. CA issues passports to U.S. citizens, issues immigrant and non-immigrant visas to foreign nationals, and serves American citizens during life’s important moments— births, deaths, disasters, and medical emergencies abroad. CA ensures responsive and efficient Consular services overseas and effective passport operations domestically.

The Office of Consular Systems Technology (CST) within the Bureau of CA is tasked with designing, installing, operating and supporting Information Technology (IT) systems and supporting infrastructure required by CA’s global mission. This includes the Hardware (HW)/ Software (SW) platforms on which the CA systems reside and operate as well as providing operational support for CA applications and databases. Currently, CA applications and systems are modernized through the ConsularOne program. 


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage data and PowerShell to automate system maintenance, monitoring, and development of tasks.
  • Provides SharePoint administration support.
  • Manages all updates, patches, add-ins, and bug fixes. 
  • Creates, maintains, and troubleshoots site collections, project sites, lists, and libraries.
  • Reviews system resources, including Unified Logging System (ULS) and Windows Logs for system health concerns.
  • Monitors permissions and audit logs for governance violations.
  • Sharepoint designer experience
